Dornoch Light Railway
Opened by the Highland Railway in June 1902, it connected with the main line between Inverness and Wick/Thurso at The Mound. Operated as a light railway, it had stations at Cambusavie Halt, Slelbo and Embo before terminating at Dornoch. Closed to all traffic in June 1960, the track was lifted in 1962. A few days in Dornoch allowed me time to trace the line as best I could without getting covered in sheep poo and tearing my jeans....by car! I am very grateful to Bill Wilson of gensheet.co.uk for assistance in regard to Cambusavie Platform.
